I’ve never played it again in all this time, but the Switch is giving me the chance, so I’m not going to shy away! This remaster ticks all the boxes in fact, it’s more like a remake. Metroid Prime is a legendary game, with a 97/100 rating on Metacritic in 2003, one of those games that revolutionized the genre, a metroidvania with a 3D, FPS twist, offering a crazy gamedesign, dynamic combat, well-balanced difficulty, art direction that was really up to scratch, a scenario that wasn’t neglected… everything was excellent. The good old days of the Gamecube, that atypical purple cube on the hunt for the PS2 and Xbox and their 3D games that forced Nintendo to take risks and modernize their major licenses: zelda, mario, or, well… Metroid. The addition of new features and improvements further enhance the overall experience, making it a true joy to play. The gameplay remains as captivating as ever, blending exploration, puzzle-solving, and intense combat in seamless and interconnected environments. The sound design and music have been beautifully remastered, heightening the sense of tension and adventure as you explore the mysterious depths of the planet. The intuitive motion controls on the Nintendo Switch bring an unprecedented level of precision to Samus Aran’s movements and combat, making the experience even more immersive and engaging. The remastered graphics breathe new life into the atmospheric world of Tallon IV, with detailed environments and immersive lighting effects that add depth and realism. The game perfectly captures the essence of the original Metroid Prime while elevating it with stunning visuals, enhanced controls, and refined gameplay mechanics. This can save you a timed bomb (it gets you to the same height as a bomb jump) in some of the puzzles and is nice for fast Morph Ball traversal as well.Metroid Prime Remastered is an absolute triumph that revitalizes a beloved classic for a new generation of players. The Wii version of Metroid Prime added a motion/gesture-based Morph Ball jump that is included in the Switch version. Her reflection is still visible in the visor during bright flashes. Samus's reflection is no longer visible in game world mirrors.Doors also open much faster and never make you wait for the room to load. A developer on the original game has claimed the new door appearances is due to an incorrect alpha level.
